Community Norms

Strata exists to support serious creators, operators, and founders through business and legal literacy. These norms protect the community and set clear expectations.

Participation here implies agreement.

  1. Purpose

This community helps members:

  • Understand the business and legal systems behind creative work

  • Recognize patterns before mistakes compound

  • Make clearer, more durable decisions

It does not:

  • Replace professional counsel

  • Provide answers without context

  • Optimize for growth, virality, or scale at all costs

  1. Education, Not Legal Advice

Everything shared here is:

  • Educational

  • General in nature

  • Based on experience and patterns

Nothing here constitutes:

  • Legal advice

  • A lawyer–client relationship

  • Professional services

Questions requiring individualized advice, document review, or investigation will be redirected or closed.

  1. What Belongs (and What Doesn't)

Appropriate:

  • Questions framed around understanding, not outcomes

  • Experience-based insights, including mistakes

  • Case studies, hypotheticals, pattern discussions

  • Respectful disagreement grounded in reasoning

The best questions ask: "What should I be thinking about here?"

Not permitted:

  • Contract review or legal advice requests

  • DMCA assistance or enforcement actions

  • Pitching services, products, or affiliates

  • Lead generation or self-promotion

  • Cold DMs to members

Repeated boundary testing results in removal.

  1. Participation Standards

This is not a passive feed.

Members are expected to:

  • Engage in good faith

  • Respect others' time and experience

  • Contribute when they have relevant insight

  • Read existing threads before asking duplicate questions

Lurking is fine. Extracting value without ever contributing is not.

  1. Tone and Conduct

Expected:

  • Directness

  • Curiosity

  • Respectful disagreement

Not tolerated:

  • Condescension

  • Bad-faith arguments

  • Harassment or intimidation

  • "Just asking questions" behavior

This is a professional environment, even when informal.

  1. Moderation

Moderation is active and discretionary.

Moderators may:

  • Remove posts

  • Close threads

  • Remove members

Decisions are final and not subject to public debate.

  1. Relationship to Paid Services

Strata is community-first.

Some contributors may offer workshops, templates, or advisory services. Any paid offerings will be:

  • Clearly labeled

  • Optional

  • Aligned with the community's purpose

Participation does not obligate purchase.

  1. The Standard

Fewer creators getting burned.
More creators building things that last.

If that resonates, you're in the right place.

  1. Updates to These Norms

These norms may be updated periodically to reflect the community's needs and protect its purpose.

Members will be notified of material changes. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of updated standards.

  1. . Privacy and Confidentiality

What's shared in Strata stays in Strata.

Members are expected to:

  • Treat discussions as confidential

  • Not screenshot or share conversation threads publicly

  • Respect the privacy of other members' questions and contributions

Sharing others' posts, questions, or identifying details outside the community without permission is prohibited.
